EMBARCADERO TROLLEY TOUR + EXPLORATORIUM
On Sunday August 24th, Market Street Railway joins with The Exploratorium for a Very Special Charter that includes VIP Tickets to the Exploratorium at a discount on both.
A first-of-its-kind collaboration between these two unique SF non-profit institutions
The trip begins at 1:00 PM at the San Francisco Railway Museum, 77 Steuart Street, just opposite the Embarcadero from the landmark Ferry Building. The Streetcar will stop a couple of times for several minutes where you will be welcome to get out and take pictures.
You’ll ride PCC 1050 (built in 1948) with a Market Street Railway Historian and Streetcar expert who will talk about the science and history of Streetcars, as well as pass around various artifacts for you to examine. Paul Lucas will be your host, in his vintage railroad uniform.
Destinations for the tour include the future E-Embarcadero Line route under the Bay Bridge past AT&T Park, then through Mission Bay and down 3rd Street to Metro East (Muni’s new light-rail storage and maintenance facility normally not open to the public!). On the return trip, we’ll glide out to Pier 39, towards Fisherman’s Wharf, and finally disembark at Pier 15, home of the Exploratorium.
Your ticket includes VIP entry to the Exploratorium and a brief orientation for the passengers of the charter tour before being released to use curiosity as your compass on a self-guided exploration through its uniquely interactive experience. You’ll be able to stay right up until closing time at 5:00 pm.
The Exploratorium is the most experimental museum in the world, the only place in San Francisco where you can touch, tinker and play with more than 600 interactive exhibits. It’s a learning laboratory for all ages that embraces the wild wonder at the intersection of science and art, and the best place to truly immerse yourself in San Francisco’s independent, innovative culture.
Seating is Limited, so reserve your tickets ASAP
