Description

A Fleet History of the San Francisco Municipal RailwayThe book Muni fans have waited for is now here. A complete listing of every transit vehicle used in regular Muni service since America’s first publicly owned big city transit system opened in 1912, plus lots of information on facilities, including car and bus barns, and plenty of interesting historical data on ridership, fares, financial performance, even Muni’s logo history. All in all, more than 200 pages and 400+ photographs. Paper-bound.

Meticulously researched by SFMTA Planner Paul Bignardi over several years, it includes lots of technical detail and photos of each vehicle class where available, including quite a few never seen before. It updates and amplifies the equipment roster in the 1982 classic Inside Muni by John McKane and Tony Perles, long out of print.
