This tee replicates the dash sign for Market Street Railway’s 5-McAllister streetcar line that took kids and kids-at-heart in the early 1920s to the Chutes at the Beach amusement park at the end of the line. “Shooting the Chutes” meant riding a gondola down the water flume at breakneck speed into a giant pool of water. Playland at the Beach, its successor in 1926, became a favorite recreational destination by streetcar into the late 1960s.
