Past service lives of Muni PCCs No. 1070-1080
Muni PCCs Nos. 1070-1080 all have virtually identical bodies to its own long-time fleet of 'Baby Ten' PCCs, Nos. 1016-1040 (long since retired, though a few are slated for restoration). These streetcars were purchased new by Twin City Rapid Transit in 1946-47 for service in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. They were sold to Newark, New Jersey in 1953, where they ran until their retirement in 2001. They were acquired by Muni in 2004, renovated, and put into service beginning in 2006. Special thanks to Market Street Railway member Peter Ehrlich for this compilation of information.
