Original 1880s San Francisco Cable Car Rail in Gift Bag

Looking for a unique present for a friend or for yourself? How about a genuine piece of San Francisco’s transportation history – an authentic slice of vintage San Francisco Cable Car Rail!

Packaged in a protective velvet gift bag with our Certificate of Authenticity, this rail represents the very early days of San Francisco’s present day transit system. First laid in the 1880s at the beginning of the Cable Car era, this rail saw service for nearly 75 years before being removed in 1954 when San Francisco’s Cable Car system was downsized to its present configuration. The rail shows the wear and tear from use and the passage of time in its rustic patina. It can be polished and lacquered to prevent further oxidation. Read More…

Adult Face Mask, “Information Gladly Given . . .” PCC version

“Information Gladly Given, But Safety Requires Avoiding Unnecessary Conversation.”

Countless San Francisco commuters have probably taken a few moments to ponder this simple statement, which has been posted near the operator’s station of every Muni bus and streetcar since the early 1960s. The message is simultaneously friendly and forbidding, inviting yet indifferent, personable yet coldly professional. Now it’s available as an adult face mask, where its message is so timely.

Our Large Adult Face Mask bears this iconic phrase in Muni’s distinctive “Green & Cream” colors and lettering, identical to the signs from the PCC era of the 1960s.

This mask is offered in a comfortable Large Adult size and is contoured to fit the face with adjustable elastic loops to fit over the ears. It is washable and reusable and comes sealed in a clear plastic bag. Cloth panel measures 8″ x 6″. Shipping for up to three is the same price as shipping for one, so order extras for yourself, or for friends.
