Still Space on Our August 22 & 23 Trolley Tours!

Seats are going fast for our next two Market Street Railway Trolley Tours, but you can still get on board!

Saturday August 22nd, Market Street Railway joins with The Exploratorium for a very special charter that includes VIP tickets to the Exploratorium at a discount on both. It’s a family oriented event, with discounts for kids who ride along. (But note, the way to get kids’ tickets is to call our museum at 415-974-1948 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., because of limitations with our online e-commerce system.)

Sunday, August 23, we reprise our popular Night Train excursion, for folks 21 and over only.

All the details are here.  Please join us for one of these upcoming Trolley Tours.

Ahoy! Sail the F-line in Style on October 23

Our trolley tour is back on track, with a nautical theme this time!

Market Street Railway and San Francisco City Guides are again collaborating on a memorable vintage streetcar ride along Muni’s historic F-line on Sunday, October 23 from 1-3pm. This extra special history tour in the fabulous open-top “Boat Tram*” (Blackpool, England, Car No. 228) offers a fresh-air view of the sights and sounds along the F-line on Market Street and The Embarcadero. The tour follows the F-line, beginning and ending at our San Francisco Railway Museum at 77 Steuart Street just opposite the Embarcadero from the landmark Ferry Building.
Join tour guides Harlan Hirschfeld from City Guides and Mike Frew from Market Street Railway for their informative cruise along the F-line where you will learn interesting historical facts about famous Fisherman’s Wharf, traditional North Beach, the scenic Embarcadero and colorful Ferry Plaza, the busy financial district, world famous Powell & Market, classic Civic Center, imposing Mint Hill and the lively Castro.
Sign up today for $30 per person. All proceeds go to support Market Street Railway and City Guides in their work to keep San Francisco’s transit history alive. Please note that your ticket purchase provides the funds required to charter the streetcar from Muni, so all ticket sales must be final. Only 44 spaces on the tour, and when they’re gone, they’re gone. (Our last tour sold out!)
Tell your friends they can reach the sign-up page directly at
Come enjoy this unique English tram while you learn how transit shaped San Francisco’s history!
*- In the event of inclement weather, or unexpected availability of the “Boat Tram,” one of Muni’s historic PCC streetcars will substitute.
