Description
Motorman is the designation for the operator or a streetcar. Unlike “Engineer” which may refer to the driver of a train, subway, or streetcar, “Motorman” was used exclusively to refer to the operator of a streetcar or trolley. During World War II, many women joined the workforce taking over the duties of the Motormen. They received the designation of “Motorette”.
